[See http://www.presentense.org/consulting/seminars/summer2008 for updated announcement and registration form]

In order to better equip leading activists and professionals in the Jewish community, PresenTense is holding a professional development seminar this summer, from June 30 - July 3, 2008, in our Institute in Jerusalem.

The seminar offering includes:

Full Membership:

Your staff participant will receive full membership at the PresenTense Institute for the duration of the summer (or however long they are visiting Israel), and be welcome to use the institute space for their work and participate in all programs open to members. This will offer a place of retreat during the summer, enabling your staff participant to reflect on their work in a creative, collaborative, and supportive environment.

Tailored Workshops and Mentorship:

PresenTense staff will conduct the following workshops over the course of the June 30-July 2nd seminar, with the aim of giving your staff participant exposure to best practice tools directly relevant to their work. Workshops will include the below sessions with a special focus on how technology and new media can be employed as a powerful tool for Information Age community work (the lineup will be subject to some adjustment):

  1. Guerrilla Web: Effective web-based promotion strategies that can be done cheap, and with little or no programming skills
  2. Building the Future: How to envision the end of a successful program in order to enhance the launch
  3. SCOT (SWOT), Scanning, and other techniques: Tools to better prepare for the challenges ahead
  4. Effective Assessment: Including the crafting of statistically
significant questions, a look at qualitative/quantitative techniques,
and introduction to web tools that make it easier
  5. Alumni and Participant Management: A look at the cheap and easy contact management/CRM systems on the market, and a discussion about effective use
  6. Project Management: The theory and practice, along with using effective web tools
  7. Creative Zionism: A text based workshop that will both explore the idea of Creative Zionism and demonstrate a unique methodology for text based education
  8. Thinking Transmedia: An approach to mobilizing the collective in an era of empowered individuals

Alongside workshops, the seminar will include personal mentorship
during the time when your staff participants are present at the
institute workspace. Further, PresenTense staff will be available for
advising for the duration of the institute.

The cost of participation in this seminar is $600 per person. Some subsidies are available on a per case basis.

To register for the seminar, please email me directly at aharon@presentense.org.
