What were we Developing, Anyway?

Over here at PresenTense Jerusalem, we're taking a hard look at what we're putting on the web. Our new website isn't bad, but hey, it's not that good either.

What's the problem? I can sum it up in one word: involvement. Whatever we did, we failed to really involve the over 100 different people who are already hitting this site on an average day. They come, they go, they leave no footprints. That means that the ideas in their head stay there, there's no cooperation, there's no synergy, the community doesn't happen.

We're not interested in brochure-ware - our site has to draw the best out of the people that see it, has to bring them in to conversation, has to provide the framework to build and create something new.

I'm a believer in iterative development - so we're iterating. It's time for the 2.0. It's time to bring the conversation in and broadcast it out. As of tonight, we're syndicating blogs published by people in the network, no matter where they're published. We're rehashing the consulting site to embody the transmedia vibe we preach - starting with a real-time reflection of the best articles we're all reading. We're taking a hard look at the magazine site to bring it up the high level set by the hundreds of volunteers who put in thousands of hours to make the magazine what it is.

What's at the heart of it for me is capturing opportunity. There's too much potential that slips between the clicks right now. It's time to bump it up a notch.

Got an idea? Want to throw in? Drop me a line.

A great idea Eliezer; I welcome being a part of the conversation and having others join in.

Kol HaKavod to the entire PresenTense team!

No one likes to register...

Registration impedes conversation. Just sayin' is all... Over at the 'lish - no registration, lot's of comments. Do the math.

Until you have sufficient traffic and comments, you ought to only have a registration option and allow avatars. Follow the Jewcy model. Learn from what others have done and follow their lead.

And I still have Aharon's Power Cord....

Too many words, not enough info

Ditto the registering thing.  And it took me three shots (rushing leads to typos)

I also think that people need input in small powerful sound bytes.  I've read through your site twice, and I still really don't get who you are.  You are doing a lot of things.  They sound great.  But if someone asked me who or what you are, I for one could not say.  An institute?  A magazine?  Outreach? And where do I fit into it living here in Miami?

Keeping my eye on you.  You have definitely piqued my interest.
