Interested in developing an international movement focused on unleashing the creative potential of the Jewish People? Working with activists and communities around the world and across the political spectrum to help generate dialogue and new ideas for educational programming and events? The Network Administrator position might be for you. We're looking for someone to be formally based in the Jerusalem office of PresenTense, but to be willing to travel across North America--and possibly beyond--on a semi-regular basis. Applicants must have experience organizing grassroots networks, planning and executing community events, and a background in youth movements is a plus. More information on the position at this link.

Impact of the First Digital is becoming understood, studied

It's increasingly becoming a matter of conventional wisdom that First Digitals have a lot to offer to the world's understanding of organizational structures and network optimization. These are skills that permeate all human interactions: business enterprises, personal relationships, governments, charities, and even self expression.

To wit, from a topical article from the American Management Association, by Dr. Maurice A, Ramirez:

The newest generation to enter the work force, Generation Next, is the first truly digital generation—people raised and educated using digital media and the Internet as an integral part of their basic thinking. Generation Next has learned to use simulated environments, virtual spaces, teleconferences, text messaging, and myriad other technologies individually and in combination.
Generation Next does not measure success by the same benchmarks as their predecessors. Success in the next phase of the digital age will require that business adopt the same benchmarks as the multitasking digital natives who will dominate that new frontier. Knowing these benchmarks, and how to achieve them, are three of the business skills Generation Next can teach business today.

In its place this Sunday, November 2, at 730pm, PresenTense will host its first Transmedia Monthly Workshop, presenting tools, technology, and strategy, for effective operation in the Digital Age. The first workshop will be Guerilla Web Campaigns, exploring techniques for maximizing impact through the web. This workshop is relevant to social entrepreneurs, organizational professionals, and any individual seeking to re-envision what it means to build effective campaigns in the digital environment.

Lifchitz Family Philanthropy Gets First Money

PresenTense 2008 Fellow Becca Linden's venture, the Lifchitz Family Philanthropy, officially received its first significant investment last week, bringing in over $10K for the first round. More exciting than the financial investment was the buy-in of the members of the clan, and the younger ones at that, who are interested in being involved in the teen philanthropy aspects of the organization.

The vision of the Lifchitz Family Philanthropy is, "To create a new philanthropic model - the “family giving circle” - that will begin with the Lifchitz Family Philanthropy, and then will branch out to others. This democratic collective giving fund is a hybrid of a traditional family foundation, a tzedekah collective and a giving circle and will be a vehicle through which extended family members pool their charitable resources to create a tzedekah powerhouse."

We congratulate Becca as she takes the bold step of pulling the project out of conception and into reality.
