Aharon Horwitz
Aharon Horwitz is the co-founder and director of the the PresenTense Group, and the co-founder of the PresenTense Institute for socially minded entrepreneurs. Aharon has founded and directed initiatives in technology and community, such as MavenHaven.com, and in student programming, such as the Azure Student Journals Project. Aharon speaks regularly in the Jewish Community and consults on student programming, strategic planning, and innovative marketing. Aharon studied Political Science and Arabic at Columbia University and has published and been cited on the subject of suicide terrorism. He volunteers for the Jerusalem based social justice organizations B'Maaglei Tzedek and Atzum's Task Force on Human Trafficking and is a recipient of the World Zionist Organization's Herzl Prize.
Ariel Beery
Ariel Beery is the co-founder and director of the PresenTense Group, and serves as the editor and publisher the Group's Magazine, as well as directs its educational fellowships. With over a decade of experience managing social movements and nonprofit organizations, Ariel is especially interested in social enterprise strategy and development as well as the life and times of the Jewish People in the Digital Age. Ariel holds graduate degrees in Jewish Studies and Nonprofit management from New York University, and undergraduate degrees in Economics and Political Science from Columbia University. A widely-published columnist in over a dozen papers around the world including the Forward, the London Jewish Chronicle, the Jerusalem Post and Haaretz, Ariel also enjoys teaching and lecturing at conferences worldwide, focusing on issues pertaining to the Jewish People, Zionism, and the impact of the Information Age on human communities. Ariel was named one of the 10 Jews to Watch by the World Jewish Digest, along with Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and was a finalist in the Brandeis University search for a Visiting Professor for Jewish Communal Innovation.
Brachie Sprung
Brachie comes to us from Ruder Finn, where she most recently served as an account executive working with hi-tech startups and not for profit organizations in Israel and abroad. Brachie's academic background is in Political Science and Communications, and she's worked with Knesset Members and spent time on the American West Coast as a Shlichah. Her passion? Changing the world, of course. Brachie is Israeli born, but completely bilingual, adding to PresenTense's language force.
Deborah Fishman
Deborah Fishman is the Network Animator for the PresenTense Group, engaging and empowering the PresenTense community to explore issues facing the Jewish People. As the volunteer managing editor of PresenTense Magazine, Deborah has managed hundreds of volunteer writers, editors, and visionaries. Deborah is currently pursuing a Masters in Jewish Professional Studies at the Spertus Institute and is an I Fellow in Israel Education at the iCenter. Deborah previously worked with the American Zionist Movement, where she developed educational materials to promote dialogue on the meaning of Zionism today. She graduated from Princeton University in 2006 with a major in Slavic Languages and Literatures and certificate in Judaic Studies. During her years at Princeton, she was News Editor for the Daily Princetonian, Princeton's daily newspaper, as well as President of PIPAC, Princeton's pro-Israel group. She now lives with her husband and daughter in New Jersey.
Elana Boehm
Hila Lipnick
Hila is the Associate Director for PresenTense Group. She was born and raised in Jerusalem, and has a Masters from Hebrew University in Jewish folklore and a Masters from Ben Gurion University in Organizational Consulting. She spent several years in Boston working as the TELEM director at the JCRC, and has recently moved back to Israel with her husband and daughter.
Melissa Meyers
Melissa comes to us via central Florida, Boston, and Tel Aviv. She graduated from Boston University with a degree in Jewish History and Literature before heading to Pardes to learn more! In her other life, Melissa is a medical student at Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv. When not at PresenTense, she spends her time learning medical ethics, reading food blogs, and doing yoga.
Naomi Fein
Naomi is the Office Manager for PresenTense Group. She was born and raised in Silver Spring, MD. Naomi has a Bachelors in Family Studies from the University of Maryland and is studying for her Masters in Community Leadership and Philanthropy Studies (Nonprofit Management) at Hebrew University, Rothberg International School. Naomi has worked as a program coordinator for the Washington, DC Jewish Community Center in their volunteer center, and at Maryland Hillel as an administrative assistant and a program coordinator. Naomi comes to us, most recently, from Secretary In Israel, where she worked as a virtual assistant. Naomi recently made aliyah with her husband, and lives in Jerusalem.
Raimy Rubin
Raimy is a native Pittsburgher who has lived in Israel since 2008. He graduated Yeshiva University with a degree in English Literature and Hebrew University - Rothberg International School with an MA in Community Leadership and Philanthropy Studies. Raimy comes to us from the UJA-Federation of New York's Israel office. Prior to moving, he worked as the Associate Editor of AMIT Magazine and the Marketing Coordinator at Sam Schwartz Engineering in New York City. Raimy lives with his wife in San Simon, Jerusalem.
Shelby Zitelman
Originally from the DC metro area, Shelby joins us most recently from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she was a resident of Moishe House Philly. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she studied entrepreneurial management at the Wharton School. Previously an analyst at two early-stage venture capital funds, Shelby has been focusing her interest in start-up strategy and dedication to social entrepreneurship to find a niche in social venture capital. She is excited to have the opportunity to pursue this passion as the Venture Resources Coordinator - merging her 2009 PresenTense Fellowship Project, The Level8 Network, with PresenTense to launch PT Investments.
Simi Hinden
Simi Hinden is the Assistant Director of Online Community at PresenTense. She graduated from Columbia University in 2004 with a degree in biology and also served as co-president of Columbia Students for Israel. She has also studied at the Weizmann Institute of Science and the Drisha Institute, and previously was an Opinion and Analysis Editor for Seeking Alpha, and has been a longstanding volunteer with PresenTense. Originally from New Jersey, Simi made aliyah and lives in Jerusalem.
Yaron Edel
Yaron Edel is a second-year law student at Hebrew University, where he is active in the movement Hitorrerut and in Hebrew University's student union. Prior to his studies, he served in Nahal as a company commander during the Second Lebanon War and was released after five years of service. He helped Hitorrerut elect two representatives to Jerusalem's city council and establish the organization's headquarters at Hebrew University. He was born and currently lives in Jerusalem.
