Our Team

Ariel Beery

Co-Director, PresenTense Group

Ariel Beery is the co-founder and director of the PresenTense Group, as well as editor and publisher of PresenTense Magazine, and co-founder of the PresenTense Institute for socially-minded entrepreneurs. Ariel is also a widely-published columnist in over a dozen papers around the world including the Forward, the London Jewish Chronicle, the Jerusalem Post and Haaretz. Ariel teaches and lectures at conferences worldwide, focusing on issues pertaining to the Jewish People, Zionism, and the impact of the Information Age on human communities. A summa cum laude graduate of Columbia University, and a graduate student at the Jewish Theological Seminary in Jewish Philosophy, receiving a Masters in Public Administration from New York University in Nonprofit Management and a Masters in Judaic Studies, Ariel was named one of the 10 Jews to Watch by the World Jewish Digest, along with Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and was a finalist in the Brandeis University search for a Visiting Professor for Jewish Communal Innovation.

Aharon Horwitz

Co-Director, PresenTense Group

Aharon Horwitz is the co-founder and director of the the PresenTense Group, and the co-founder of the PresenTense Institute for socially minded entrepreneurs. Aharon has founded and directed initiatives in technology and community, such as MavenHaven.com, and in student programming, such as the Azure Student Journals Project. Aharon speaks regularly in the Jewish Community and consults on student programming, strategic planning, and innovative marketing. Aharon studied Political Science and Arabic at Columbia University and has published and been cited on the subject of suicide terrorism. He volunteers for the Jerusalem based social justice organizations B'Maaglei Tzedek and Atzum's Task Force on Human Trafficking and is a recipient of the World Zionist Organization's Herzl Prize.

Eliezer Israel

Chief Technical Officer, PresenTense Group

Eliezer Israel has 15 years experience in technology and business. He was in the core team at Israeli startup Unicorn Solutions from its first year in 2001 through its sale to IBM in 2006, and was then with IBM through 2007. At Unicorn and IBM Eliezer served as Product Manager, managing the development of enterprise software projects and helping to define metadata strategy for IBM global. He serves on the board of two Israeli not-for-profits, holds patents and patents pending in semantic technologies, and holds degrees from Boston University in Computer Science and Philosophy.

Deborah Fishman

Managing Editor, PresenTense Magazine

Deborah Fishman serves as National Program Director for the American Zionist Movement, in which capacity she manages public relations, develops and promotes programming, writes educational guides and performs outreach to young adults to promote dialogue on the meaning of Zionism today. She graduated from Princeton University in 2006 with a major in Slavic Languages and Literatures and certificate in Judaic Studies. During her years at Princeton, she was News Editor for the Daily Princetonian, Princeton's daily newspaper, as well as President of PIPAC, Princeton's pro-Israel group. She now lives with her husband in Chicago.

Simi Hinden

Business Director, PresenTense Magazine

Simi Hinden is the Advertising and Circulation Director at PresenTense Magazine. She graduated from Columbia University in 2004 with a degree in biology and also served as co-president of Columbia Students for Israel. She has also studied at the Weizmann Institute of Science and the Drisha Institute. Originally from New Jersey, Simi recently moved to Israel, where she works for Seeking Alpha as an Opinion and Analysis Editor.
